Following three successful years of racing in the Tri-Cities, Visit Tri-Cities and The IRONMAN Group announced today a new three-year agreement to continue hosting the IRONMAN® 70.3® Washington Tri-Cities triathlon.

The agreement extends a partnership that began in 2024, when the Tri-Cities became the Washington host destination for the IRONMAN® 70.3® event. Since its debut, the race has welcomed thousands of athletes and visitors from across the United States and around the world, generating millions of dollars in visitor spending and showcasing the Tri-Cities as a premier sports tourism destination.

“Three years ago, we knew the Tri-Cities had all the ingredients to create an exceptional IRONMAN experience. What has happened since then has exceeded even our expectations,” said Kevin Lewis, President and CEO of Visit Tri-Cities.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Visit Tri-Cities and the entire Tri-Cities community for another three years,” said Tim Brosious, Northwest Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group. “Since the first IRONMAN® 70.3® Washington Tri-Cities, this community has created an outstanding experience for our athletes. From the Columbia River and scenic course to the incredible energy of volunteers and spectators, the Tri-Cities has quickly established itself as a special destination within the IRONMAN® 70.3® series. We look forward to continuing to grow this event together.”

The renewal follows significant recognition from athletes who have experienced the Tri-Cities course firsthand. In the 2025 IRONMAN® 70.3® Athletes’ Choice Awards, IRONMAN® 70.3® Washington Tri-Cities was named Best Run Course in the world, while also ranking No. 3 in Overall Satisfaction in North America and No. 3 for Best Swim Course in North America. The global recognition placed the Tri-Cities alongside some of the most celebrated IRONMAN destinations in the world.

For the Tri-Cities, the impact of IRONMAN extends beyond race day. Thousands of athletes, family members and supporters travel to the region for race weekend, supporting local hotels, restaurants, retailers and attractions. The event has also become a community-wide effort, bringing together local governments, businesses, community organizations and volunteers to welcome athletes and visitors to the region.

“Our goal has always been bigger than hosting a race,” Lewis added. “IRONMAN gives us an opportunity to showcase the Tri-Cities on an international stage, create economic opportunity for our local businesses and bring our community together around something truly special. The next three years give us an opportunity to take what we’ve built and make it even stronger.”
