On April 26, 2025, the Salt Lake City Marathon brought a celebration of endurance, community, and stunning scenery! With six events—including a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, bike tour, and a 1K fun run for kids, there was something for every age and pace.
The race kicked off at the iconic Olympic Legacy Bridge, wound through downtown, Holladay, and finished strong at Library Square in the heart of the city. Along the way, participants took in breathtaking views of the Wasatch Mountains and passed through some of Salt Lake’s most iconic neighborhoods.
Named “Best Running Event” and “Best Half Marathon” in Utah, this race offers not only a physical challenge but a truly unforgettable experience. As one of the first Boston Marathon Race Qualifiers, athletes start their season off right here in Salt Lake.

The Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races, where urban-meets-trail life, invited runners to take on some of the region’s most scenic and challenging terrain. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Salt Lake Valley, each course highlights the raw beauty of the local foothills.
While most mountain races take place far off the grid, Salt Lake is unique in that its trail systems are just minutes from city life. This ease of access is part of what makes The Open Range – Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races so appealing to runners.
On May 31, 2025, the 50K and 10K races started and finished at the BoSho Trailhead, near Utah’s Hogle Zoo, while the Half Marathon began at the iconic Ensign Peak, offering early elevation gains and expansive views of the valley. To close out the race, runners took on a uniquely entertaining final mile, fondly known as the “Michael Bolton Final Mile”
