Burdette Park BMX has been an important part of BMX racing in Evansville and the surrounding region for 50 years.

What began in 1977 as a standard BMX track on the west side of Burdette Park has grown into one of the most distinctive and recognizable tracks in the country. Its approximately 1,500-foot downhill layout features five straights and the track’s signature “S” turn, creating a fast and challenging course well known to riders and officials alike.

Throughout its history, Burdette Park BMX has hosted several significant events, including:

1980: National Bicycle League Grand Nationals

2001: BMX Pre-Worlds, welcoming international competition

2019: USA BMX North Central Gold Cup Finals

2022: 45th Anniversary Celebration, featuring commemorative races and a vintage bike show

Now, Burdette Park BMX is preparing for its next major milestone.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the track will host the 2027 USA BMX Hoosier Nationals in Evansville over Labor Day weekend. The event will welcome riders, families, and fans from across the country for a weekend celebrating the history of BMX racing and the people who have helped make Burdette Park BMX what it is today.

For five decades, generations of riders have competed, developed their skills, and created lasting memories at Burdette Park BMX. The track’s history, combined with the dedication of countless volunteers, riders, families, and supporters, has created a lasting legacy within Evansville’s sports community.

In 2027, that legacy will take center stage.

Fifty years of racing. Fifty years of memories. One historic weekend to celebrate the people and moments that have shaped Burdette Park BMX.
