Ann Arbor welcomes guests of all abilities to stay and play. The Ann Arbor Sports Commission (AASC) supports planners in creating inclusive events by offering complimentary services and sharing up-front, accessible information so attendees know what to expect.

Partnerships & Collaborations

Working alongside organizations advancing adaptive sports and accessibility throughout Washtenaw County, the AASC partners with the University of Michigan Adaptive Sports and Fitness program, the Disability Network Washtenaw Monroe Livingston, and the City of Ann Arbor’s Commission on Disability Issues.

The Disability Network has also provided AASC staff with training in disability awareness, inclusive communication and service, accessibility barriers, and incorporating accessibility into event planning. These relationships provide valuable local expertise and help the Sports Commission better support athletes, families, and event planners.

Now, the team is excited to build on that momentum.

Ann Arbor Selected as Host for 2027 Move United Education Conference

In 2027, Ann Arbor will welcome 600 attendees of the Move United Education Conference.

Move United, the national leader in community-based sports and recreation for individuals with disabilities, has selected Ann Arbor for the conference location and will be hosted by the University of Michigan Adaptive Sports and Fitness and the Ann Arbor Sports Commission.

The conference will unite athletes and adaptive sports leaders, healthcare and rehabilitation professionals, recreation providers, educators, students, and advocates committed to advancing inclusive sport and recreation for individuals with disabilities.
