Pickleball is taking center court in Baton Rouge. What began as a casual pastime has quickly evolved into one of the city’s most exciting and fastest-growing sports scenes, and in 2025, Baton Rouge is proving it’s ready for the big leagues. With Louisiana’s first-ever professional pickleball tournament now in the books and a packed slate of events on deck, the city has cemented its status as a major hub for the sport in the Gulf South.
A City Ready to Play
Over the past few years, Baton Rouge has seen pickleball transform from a niche recreational activity into a true community movement. The city’s momentum is fueled by a combination of factors: world-class facilities, central accessibility, and a culture that thrives on competition and camaraderie.

“Baton Rouge offers a compelling mix of infrastructure, accessibility, and community enthusiasm,” the Visit Baton Rouge team shared. “With 40 tournament-ready courts, the city is well-equipped to handle events of varying scales. Its central location makes it an attractive destination for players across the region, while its hospitality and cultural vibrancy enhance the overall experience.”
The local community’s passion for the sport is unmistakable. From casual play in local parks to growing participation in regional tournaments, pickleball has become a unifying pastime across generations. A new local favorite, Court To Table, captures the spirit perfectly, as a restaurant and bar pairing social dining with six indoor and five outdoor covered courts.
The Venues Driving the Movement

At the heart of Baton Rouge’s pickleball rise is Stacks Pickleball, now the region’s epicenter for competitive play. The facility has quickly built a reputation for professional-grade courts, an electric tournament atmosphere, and the capacity to host large crowds, making it the go-to site for the city’s biggest 2025 tournaments.
A Landmark Year for Pickleball Events
This year’s tournament lineup showcases the full spectrum of the sport — from professional showdowns to amateur championships and community-driven events. Check out the lineup below!

PPA Tour Challenger Series (April 4–6)
The 2025 PPA Tour Challenger marked a historic milestone as Louisiana’s first professional pickleball tournament. The event drew 217 players, including 14 international competitors and nearly 100 from out of state, welcoming more than 2,000 attendees. It was a defining moment that placed Baton Rouge on the national pickleball map.
Louisiana Amateur State Championship (June 27–29)
Co-hosted by Southern Pickleball and the PPA Tour, this event celebrated grassroots competition. With 259 players — 64 traveling from out of state — and over 1,300 attendees, the championship highlighted the region’s deep bench of emerging talent and strong community engagement.
Louisiana Open (August 20–24)
As the flagship event of the Stacks Pickleball series, the Louisiana Open was the largest tournament of the year. It drew 512 players, including 164 from outside the Baton Rouge metro area, with nearly 1,300 attendees cheering courtside. The event showcased the city’s ability to deliver on both scale and atmosphere.
A Lasting Impact
Beyond the courts, pickleball is driving tangible impact across Baton Rouge. Each event brings an influx of visitors filling local hotels, restaurants, and shops, generating economic momentum and amplifying the city’s profile as a sports destination.

“These tournaments bring significant economic benefits through tourism,” Visit Baton Rouge noted. “With thousands of attendees across multiple events, the ripple effect supports small businesses and boosts the city’s visibility.”
But the benefits go beyond tourism dollars. High-profile events have inspired local players, particularly youth and amateur athletes, to get involved. Clinics, exhibitions, and community programs continue to build momentum, ensuring the growth of pickleball extends far beyond the 2025 season.
Baton Rouge’s pickleball story is just getting started. With its thriving facilities, passionate community, and championship-level hosting capabilities, the city is serving up an ace for the future of the sport.
