A major milestone was reached yesterday at Wintrust Sports Complex as community leaders, Chicago Sky representatives, and partners gathered to celebrate the progress of Phase 2 expansion. The highlight: the nearly complete exterior of the Chicago Sky’s new training facility, which is now slated to open in spring 2026.

Raising the Game for the Chicago Sky

The Sky’s state-of-the-art practice facility will feature two full courts, modern locker rooms, weight training areas, team offices, and dedicated content creation spaces. Plans also include unique amenities like a full-time staffed kitchen, upgraded player wellness areas, and even designated spaces for personal services. An observation deck is also in the works, designed to host executives, partners, and season ticket holders for an elevated experience.

Originally set to open at the end of 2025, the timeline shifted due to design changes that enhance the building’s functionality and long-term value. Sky leadership emphasized that these improvements will play a pivotal role in player development, free agent recruitment, and team culture.

Beyond the Sky: Wintrust Phase 2 Expansion

While the Sky facility is private to the team, Phase 2 of the broader Wintrust Sports Complex expansion will bring new amenities for the community and visiting athletes, including indoor turf fields and additional multipurpose space. These upgrades will further solidify Wintrust as a national destination for sports tournaments, training, and community events.

A Win for Bedford Park and Beyond

The ceremony underscored how the project not only benefits the Sky but also the Bedford Park community and the larger Chicago sports landscape. By 2026, the complex will house one of the most comprehensive blends of professional-level facilities and community-accessible amenities in the country.

As Bedford Park Mayor and community leaders highlighted, the project is about more than construction — it’s about building a legacy that connects youth, fans, and professional athletes under one roof.

We look forward to welcoming the Chicago Sky to their new home courts and unveiling expanded opportunities for our community when doors open in spring 2026.
